Study advances understanding of liver immune response in cirrhosis - EurekAlert

Researchers have investigated the role of the protein LSECtin in the liver's immune response through experiments on mouse cirrhosis models and human tissues.

They found that decreased levels of LSECtin lead to increased specific immune cells in the liver, suggesting that restoring these levels could potentially restore altered liver functions in cirrhosis patients.

The study suggests restoring LSECtin activity could be a therapeutic strategy for cirrhosis. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the immune mechanisms involved in cirrhosis and provide insights into possible treatment avenues for this condition.
