Psychedelic Treatment With Psilocybin for Major Depression Effective for Up to a Year

The use of psilocybin — the active component of “magic” mushrooms — is associated with a decreased likelihood of engaging in criminal behavior, according to new research. The findings have been published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology

A study of adults older than 50 (n = 21k) found: greater purpose in life, positive emotions, optimism, social support, and life satisfaction predicted lower mortality (1 SD increase in most measures of psychological well-being was linked with a 2–4 year increase in life expectancy at 50).
