NASA probe’s close-up observations of the Sun show a multitude of solar energetic particle events


Written by Catriona Roy In its first two record-breaking orbits of the Sun, the Parker Solar Probe has voyaged closer to the Sun than any spacecraft has ever before, revealing diversity and detail in energetic particle activity in the solar atmosphere. The NASA probe was launched on 12 August 2018, with an aim to investigate the solar wind, magnetic field and particles from the Sun.
