Breakthrough in benzofuran synthesis: New method enables complex molecule creation - EurekAlert
<p>Benzofurans are a promising class of molecules in various fields, including biochemistry, medicine, and agriculture. However, synthesizing benzofurans with multiple functional groups is challenging. In a recent study, researchers from Japan found a new synthesis method to produce highly functionalized and complex benzofurans from easily accessible starting materials. Their approach, which is based on an unusual substituent migration, will unlock a new family of organic chemicals with many potential applications.</p>
