Academician Chen Wei's team reveals a new mechanism of hyaluronic acid with a specific molecular weight (300-400 ... - EurekAlert

Recently, Associate Researcher Leilei Yu, from the team led by Academician Wei Chen at the School of Food Science and Technology of Jiangnan University, published a paper titled "Hyaluronic acid modulates gut microbiota and metabolites relieving inflammation: a molecular weight-dependent study" in Science Bulletin. This study found that hyaluronic acid with a specific molecular weight (300-400 kDa) can alleviate inflammation by targeting Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron and Bacteroides caccae, which degrade hyaluronic acid and produce myristic acid. This finding provides new targets and ideas for treating host inflammation and related diseases. The Center for Food Biotechnology at the School of Food Science and Technology, Jiangnan University, led by Academician Chen Wei, where Associate Researcher Leilei Yu is affiliated, has been dedicated to mining strain resources, analyzing beneficial mechanisms, and developing microecological preparations.
