TTUHSC’s Ahmed investigating cardiac cell reg - EurekAlert
<p>Though humans cannot regenerate cardiac cells, some mammals have the ability to do so, generally for a specific amount of time immediately following birth. With that in mind, TTUHSC’s Mahmoud Salama Ahmed, Ph.D., and an international team of researchers have completed an investigation to uncover novel therapeutics or existing FDA-approved therapeutic regimens for cardiac regeneration. Their study (“Identification of FDA-approved drugs that induce heart regeneration in mammals”) was published in Nature Cardiovascular Research.</p>
