TTUHSC’s Ahmed investigating cardiac cell reg - EurekAlert


<p>Though humans cannot regenerate cardiac cells, some mammals have the ability to do so, generally for a specific amount of time immediately following birth. With that in mind, TTUHSC&rsquo;s Mahmoud Salama Ahmed, Ph.D., and an international team of researchers have completed an investigation to uncover novel therapeutics or existing FDA-approved therapeutic regimens for cardiac regeneration. Their study (&ldquo;Identification of FDA-approved drugs that induce heart regeneration in mammals&rdquo;) was published in Nature Cardiovascular Research.</p>
