Toroidal vortex streets can stably flow in light - EurekAlert

The Kármán vortex street, famous for its aesthetic beauty and immense power, is a classical flow pattern of swirling vortices. An internationally collaborated group has now introduced its optical analog in nondiffracting supertoridal light pulses (NDSTPs). The topological features of NDSTPs can stably propagate forward, which allows the study of the propagation dynamics of electromagnetic skyrmionics fields and will be of interest as directed energy channels for information transfer applications.
