To keep up with evolving prey, rattlesnakes tap genetically diverse venom toolbox

A new species of pitcher plant (Nepenthes pudica) from North Kalimantan, Indonesia exhibits a characteristic that is unique within the group. It produces underground pitfall traps to prey on ants and other invertebrates that live in litter and soil.

Two orcas named Port and Starboard have slaughtered at least eight great white sharks near the Gansbaai coast since 2015. Shark carcasses have been found with their bodies torn open and their livers ripped out. This behaviour could be a result of declining prey populations.
