Theoretical design and experimental verification of high-entropy carbide ablative resistant coating - EurekAlert

This study has proposed a theoretical method based on the inverse design for novel high-entropy carbide ceramic coatings suitable for the thermal protection system (TPS) of high-speed aircraft. The high-entropy carbide ceramic coatings designed by this method not only exhibit excellent ablation resistance but also demonstrate outstanding phase and structural stability in ultra-high temperature ablation environments exceeding 2300 °C.
