The US National Space Council Is Back and Focused on Security

In the 1970s NASA assumed space tourism was imminent. The space shuttle was to launch so often that NASA would have to fill all the seats. The Office of Spaceflight considered two ideas: fly journalists, to report back, or “Unique Personalities,” including politicians, celebrities, and educators.

Biden to expand National Space Council to advance workforce, climate goals. The Cabinet-level body will now include the secretaries of Education, Labor, Agriculture, and Interior, along with the national climate adviser.
