Refugee influxes usually receive global attention, mainly focused on assisting refugees. However, the emotional impact on host communities is often overlooked. In a recent study, researchers scrutinized how the 2017 Rohingya refugee influx impacted the sentiments of the host communities in Bangladesh. Alarmingly, the host communities expressed tremendous hostility towards the Rohingya refugees, highlighting the need for policymakers and aid agencies to address the current situation and prevent social unrest.
