Sepiolite: a new component suitable for 380 km/h high-speed rail brake pads - EurekAlert

The research focused on incorporating sepiolite as a new component in copper-based powder metallurgy brake pads, resulting in high-temperature resistant and low-wear copper-based brake pads. Sepiolite's high-temperature lubricity and excellent wear resistance led to outstanding braking performance, allowing the prepared copper-based brake pads to operate at 380 km/h. Real-time surface temperature monitoring during braking, coupled with genetic algorithm (GA) optimization of a GA-Gradient Boosting predictive model for temperature, ensured stability.
