Rwanda initiative: public health boost with c - EurekAlert

On April 30, BGI Genomics and the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) launched a cervical cancer screening program in Ngoma District, Rwanda. Aimed at providing 20,000 HPV DNA tests for local women, the initiative seeks to improve screening efforts and enhance precision medical testing capabilities. Attended by notable figures including the Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda and local officials, the event underscores Rwanda's commitment to public health. BGI Genomics offers laboratory equipment and technology transfer, with data managed locally in compliance with Rwandan laws. With cervical cancer ranking as the second most prevalent cancer among Rwandan women and low screening rates, this program promises significant healthcare impact.
