Although deliberately misleading "fake news" can significantly alter attitudes towards COVID-19 vaccination, the widespread exposure to unflagged, vaccine-skeptical content on Facebook had a much greater impact during the peak of the pandemic, potentially resulting in millions of people choosing not to get vaccinated.
