Quantum frequency transducer and its applications - EurekAlert

Quantum frequency transducer (QFT) is a key technology in quantum information processing. QFT can convert quantum state from one wavelength to another wavelength with high fidelity, while the coherence and entanglement properties of the photonic state can be well preserved. There are two main application directions based on the intrinsic properties of QFT: i. quantum frequency interface, which transfers quantum state between different quantum systems work at different wavelengths; ii. frequency conversion detection, which convert photon from the weak detection ability waveband to the waveband that has better detection ability. Hence, QFT holds great research significance and possesses immense prospects for practical applications. Recently, research group giving a brief introduction of the basic principles of QFT and key parameters to evaluate QFT, some main progresses for applications of QFT in the aforementioned two aspects are described in detail. Finally, it gives the research trend and issues remains to be solved in this area.
