Primary cilia restrict autoinflammation by mediating PD-L1 expression - EurekAlert

In a paper published in Science Bulletin, a team of scientists present evidence of T cell infiltration and attenuated expression of PD-L1 in ciliopathic tissues. Loss of cilia in epithelial cells downregulates PD-L1 and leads to T cell activation. The study suggests a role for autoinflammation in the onset of ciliopathies.
