Potential causal effect of long-term PM1 exposure on hypertension hospitalization - EurekAlert
<p>A cohort study published in Science Bulletin provides additional evidence on the health hazards of submicron particulate matter (PM1) and fine particulate matter (PM2.5). The findings revealed that for every 1 μg/m³ increase in PM1 concentration over 1–3 years, the risk of hypertension hospitalization increased by 13.1%–20.7%. Additionally, the risk of hypertension hospitalization associated with long-term exposure to PM1 was 6.0%–11.0% higher compared to PM2.5 exposure. These results offer valuable insights for the formulation of future air pollution standards and relevant public health policies in China.</p>
