Photoenzymatic synthesis of 1-alkenes and hyd - EurekAlert

In a paper published in Science Bulletin, a collaborative team of scientists built an artificial cascade through combining the photocatalytic H2O2 production by COF-TfpBpy with the H2O2-dependent activity of P450 peroxygenases, achieving selective decarboxylation and β-hydroxylation of a range of natural fatty acids under air and light at room temperature without any external sacrificial agent. The photoenzymatic hybrid tandem catalytic system demonstrates not only high total turnover numbers, but also excellent scalability and application potential for producing fatty acid-derived chemicals.
