On-surface synthesis of carbyne: An sp-hybridized linear carbon allotrope - EurekAlert
<p>In a paper published in <em>National Science Review</em>, a Chinese team of scientists present the on-surface synthesis and characterization of a polyynic carbon chain with ~120 atoms. The polyynic structure of carbon chains with alternating single and triple bonds was revealed by bond-resolved atomic force microscopy.</p>
