New biomarkers of response in melanoma immunotherapy - EurekAlert

Researchers have identified novel biomarkers associated with melanoma immunotherapy response. In a study published in Biophotonics Discovery, scientists from the USA used second-harmonic generation imaging to track collagen changes during treatment. Immunotherapy-treated mice showed reorganized collagen fibers with a healthier phenotype. Single-fiber collagen features emerged as sensitive indicators of treatment effects. These findings may enhance personalized cancer therapies and improve outcomes for melanoma patients.
