Natural GmACO1 allelic variations confer drought tolerance and influence nodule formation in soybean - EurekAlert

In a paper published on aBIOTECH, the authors found a gene named GmACO1 conferring drought tolerance in soybean through a genome-wide association study (GWAS) in a natural soybean population. Allelic analysis and genetic validation demonstrated that GmACO1 encoding for a 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate oxidase positively regulated drought tolerance in soybean, Meanwhile, GmACO1 expression was reduced after rhizobial infection, and negatively regulated soybean nodule formation.
