Mutualism, from biology to organic chemistry? - EurekAlert
Both the heterodehydrocoupling of hydrostanane and complete reduction of quinoline could be simultaneously realized in one-pot manner with the catalysis of B(C6F5)3. The two reactions promote each other, furnishing a series of heteroatom-tin compounds and tetrahydroquinolines under mild conditions. The systematic investigation towards the reaction mechanism showed that it represents a mutualism example applied in organic synthesis, which is similar as the mutually beneficial relationship in biology.
