Molecular mechanism of chemical diversity of thermophilic fungus and its ecological and biological functions - EurekAlert

In a paper published in Mycology, scientists present diverse chemical and ecological functions of two specific P450 genes in a dominant thermophilic fungus Thermomyces dupontii with an optimal growth temperature of 45-50 °C and a minimum growth temperature of 37 °C. T. dupontii has adapted to environmental temperatures in the biosphere as a key eukaryote decomposer with a sharply reduced genome size.
