Mitochondria: still captivating the scientific and medical community - EurekAlert

The World Mitochondria Society is excited to announce its annual workshop on the Evaluation of Mitochondrial Function, scheduled to take place on October 29, 2024, in Berlin. This workshop will precede the Targeting Mitochondria 2024 Congress and aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the latest advances in mitochondrial research and evaluation. Mitochondria continue to captivate researchers and clinicians with their crucial role in cellular energy production and overall cellular function. Evaluating mitochondrial health is essential for advancing medical research and developing innovative treatments, making this workshop a significant step towards the medicine of tomorrow. The chairmen of the WMS, Marvin Edeas and Volkmar Weissig, emphasized that mitochondria are dynamic organelles that move, communicate, and alert within the cellular environment. These organelles are present in various localisations. Given this dynamic nature, there is a pressing need for adaptive techniques and methods that align with the inherent dynamics of mitochondria.
