Mimicking infection in pregnant mice provokes persistent changes in juvenile brains - EurekAlert


Scientists from Harvard University in Cambridge, USA, have successfully identified cells in the embryonic brain that respond to maternal virus-induced inflammation during pregnancy, producing changes in gene regulation in the brain that continue after birth. This study, published in Development, provides new insights into how activation of the maternal immune response during pregnancy might affect the development of unborn offspring, offering clues for further research into neurodevelopmental disorders.
