Leptanilla voldemort, a ghostly slender new ant species from the dark depths of the underground - EurekAlert
<p>In the sun-scorched Pilbara region of north-western Australia, scientists have unearthed a mysterious creature from the shadows – a new ant species called <em>Leptanilla voldemort</em>. Its name pays homage to the dark wizard Lord Voldemort, the fearsome antagonist of the Harry Potter series, drawing parallels with the ant’s ghostly and slender appearance, and the dark underground environment, from which it has emerged. The discovery was published in the scientific journal <em>ZooKeys</em>.</p>
