Korea University study reveals that gastric cancer surgery may reduce heart disease risk reduced - EurekAlert


The high death rates in patients with cancer can be partly attributed to the increased risks of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). In a new study, scientists compared the incidences of MACE between patients with gastric cancer after gastrectomy or endoscopic resection and the general population. Their findings showed that patients with gastric cancer who underwent gastrectomy had lower risks of MACE providing insights into the metabolic effects of gastrectomy.
