Heatwaves hit harder for people with disabilities: A Pusan National University study finds increased emergency visits - EurekAlert
People with disabilities constitute 16% of the world's population, representing a substantial section of the population with increased vulnerability to the impacts of climate change. Nonetheless, few studies have looked at how high temperatures specifically affect their health in South Korea. To address this gap, researchers from Pusan National University analyzed 18 years of hospitalization data. Their findings highlight significant risks and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities during periods of high temperatures.
