Groundbreaking study uncovers new insights into alternative splicing and disease associations - EurekAlert

Researchers from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU) utilized long-read RNA sequencing to construct an RNA database for 29 immune cell subsets. Their innovative approach uncovered novel transcripts that have been previously unknown, including a readthrough transcript in the Alzheimer’s disease locus. By integrating short-read data and advanced genetic analyses, the study offers new insights into the pathology of autoimmune diseases and Alzheimer’s disease along with potential therapeutic targets.
