First ever image of a black hole: a CNRS researcher had simulated it as early as 1979


The first real image of a black hole, obtained by the international network of EHT telescopes and published on April 10, 2019 in Astrophysical Journal Lettershttps://iopscience.iop.org/journal/2041-8205/page/Focus_on_EHT, shows the extraordinary accuracy of the world’s very first simulation of a black hole 40 years earlier by Jean-Pierre Luminet, then a young researcher at the CNRS.
