Robert Califf

Robert Califf is an American cardiologist and a former Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration. He was nominated to be commissioner in September 2015 by President Barack Obama and he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in February 2016, serving until January 20, 2017. Prior to becoming commissioner he had served as the Deputy Commissioner of the United States Food and Drug Administration's Office of Medical Products and Tobacco since January 2015. In 2019, he became head of medical strategy at Google parent company Alphabet Inc.
