Saint Pierre and Miquelon (), officially the Territorial Collectivity of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon (French: Collectivité territoriale de Saint-Pierre et Miquelon [sɛ̃ pjɛʁ e miklɔ̃]), is a self-governing territorial overseas collectivity of France in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean near the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Astronomer Pierre Janssen was he first to regularly use photographs to study the Sun. In 1903 he published his great "Atlas de photographies solaires", containing more than 6,000 solar pictures
