The Pillars of Creation were made famous by a 1995 Hubble photo. Now, JWST has seen far more deeply into this iconic region, discovering "quite active" young stars. Scientists say these stars fire supersonic jets that interact with clouds of dust, creating lava-like conditions within the pillars.
