Earth's mysterious D" layer: A relic of ancient oceans and planetary collisions - EurekAlert


In a recent paper published in National Science Review, an international team of scientists modelled the crystallization process of hydrous magma ocean in ancient time. They find this hydrous crystallization prefers the formation of exotic oxygen-rich phases that has incubated the unique structures at Earth’s core mantle boundary and are long-lived until today.
