DNA methylation clocks for estimating biological age in Chinese cohorts - EurekAlert

This study investigates DNA methylation clocks as predictors of biological age in Chinese cohorts. By analyzing DNA methylation datasets from two Chinese cohorts, the researchers developed a new DNA methylation clock (iCAS-DNAmAge) and several multi-modal aging clocks tailored to the Chinese population. These clocks demonstrate strong predictive capabilities for chronological age and are associated with health status, lifestyle, and disease history. The findings provide new insights into the regulatory mechanisms of age-related DNA methylation changes and offer tools for precise biological age assessment and aging intervention strategies.
