Deintercalation of Al from MoAlB by molten salt etching to achieve a Mo2AlB2 compound and 2D MoB nanosheets - EurekAlert


Theoretical works predicted that two-dimensional (2D) MoB MBene possesses a series of excellent properties in the fields of electrochemistry, energy storage, and catalysis. Previous research suggested that the metastable Mo2AlB2 phase is an ideal precursor for the synthesis of MoB MBene, but there is a lack of experimental results to verify it. In addition, the metastable Mo2AlB2 phase cannot be prepared by solid-state reactions at high temperatures. It is imperative to explore a fast and efficient route for preparing Mo2AlB2 and MoB MBene.
