Chainmail catalysts: Carbon-encapsulated FeNi alloys for enhanced oxygen electrocatalysis - EurekAlert

FeNi alloy nanoparticles, encapsulated in a carbon shell and supported on N-doped graphene nanosheets, have been prepared. This chainmail catalyst demonstrates superior performance in oxygen reduction and evolution reactions, and Zn-air batteries. This enhanced performance is attributed to the synergistic effect between the shell and the alloy.
