Bound-state electrons synergy over photochromic high-crystalline C₃N₅ nanosheets in enhancing charge separation ... - EurekAlert

In this study, cyano groups were introduced into C3N5 materials via the molten salt method, capturing free electrons to form bound state electrons. This created directional constraints in high catalytic activity regions, prolonging photogenerated carrier lifetimes. Meanwhile, high-crystallinity C3N5 samples changed color from yellow to blue, broadening the absorption spectrum and enhancing photoexcited electron and hole participation, thus boosting photocatalytic hydrogen production activity.
