Big connectome imaging data in psychiatric disorders - EurekAlert

This review jointly published by Dr. Mingrui Xia and Dr. Yong He (State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning, Beijing Key Laboratory of Brain Imaging and Connectomics, and IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research, Beijing Normal University), highlights recent progress in leveraging large neuroimaging datasets and innovative methods for multicenter and multidimensional data analysis to understand psychiatric disorders. The review also discusses emerging issues and challenges that will influence the future of psychiatric research. The novel findings from big connectome imaging data not only establish new theories of brain network disruption in the development and progression of these disorders but also offer novel concepts for the diagnosis and treatment prediction of mental disorders. This promotes the clinical translation of basic research and holds promise for groundbreaking transformations in the field of mental health.
