Baby chicks learn faster due to mother’s color - EurekAlert


Chicks learned faster with mothers who were dyed red and blue, colours that are rarer in the natural spectrum.  The discovery implies the presence of spontaneous biases in the neonate brain that can enhance generalisation. So it is not just experience but also an initial predisposed preference that enhances fast learning in chicks.
