AJPH study shows that permit to purchase laws are a promising avenue to reduce suicides in young adults - EurekAlert


Young adults aged 18 to 20 are especially vulnerable to death by suicide, but the impact of gun control laws on these deaths has been underexamined. A new study reveals that a combination of minimum age laws and permit to purchase (PTP) laws significantly reduces both firearm-specific and overall suicide rates among young adults. This underscores the effectiveness and practicality of implementing PTP laws as a promising policy intervention.
