The Space Review: The economic reality of lunar competition: beyond the space race rhetoric


NASA acting administrator Sean Duffy’s recent declaration that “we are going to beat the Chinese to the Moon” captures the political zeitgeist perfectly. But buried within his own remarks lies a more troubling economic reality: “At $4 billion a launch, it becomes very challenging to have a moon program”.
