A record-shattering March heatwave across the U.S. would be "virtually impossible" without climate change according to World Weather Attribution. With some regions hitting 107°F, researchers warn that 25% of all national March heat records could be tied or broken this month.

Driven by a strong, slow-moving high pressure system, called a ‘heat dome’, the event is causing temperatures to rise 11-17℃ (20-30℉) above average across parts of California, Nevada and Arizona (BBC, 17 March 2026).
